… We were in Paris getting married ….
… Today we are spending the day with our four month old twins …
Six months ago today we were in Paris! The weather was lovely, it was spring, and it was our wedding day!!
These last six months have both passed very quick, but at the same time it feels like forever ago….
I have written about our wedding before, but I want to a recap of the whole day in one post.
Almost all the pictures have been taken by my awesome friend and photographer Kine Jensen!
The day started with my two friends Ida and Jeanette who were helping me, doing my hair and putting the white fluffy dress on. Kine also came and snapped heaps of pictures. My mom was making the corsages and my bouquet.
These three hearts were sown into my dress by my mom. The different fabrics are from my Oma (dutch grandmother), Opa, (dutch grandfather) and Granny. I wanted to have something from them with me even if they could not be there in person. These hearts were my «something old».
Something blue – a homemade bow from my cousin Joanna.
My something borrowed were hair pins lent to me by my friend to hold my hair piece in place. And my something new was a brand new pearl necklace.
Three excited, and a little nervous girls, all ready to go.
When we left the hotel room, I was so scared of getting stuck in the elevator, so I gave my high heels to my friends, pulled my dress up, and walked all the six floors down the stairs.
We walked the short way to the Luxembourg Gardens and waited for the all clear signal from the best man.
At this point I thought I would be so so nervous, but I can’t remember being nervous at all!!
We got the signal and walked over to the spot beneath all the trees that we had decided on a few days before.
The wedding ceremony (read more about it here) was conducted by Pierre-Henri Thérond, and it was just perfect. All the guests got to say a few words and we got to put on our rings and say «I do»!
After all the big words were said we had brought champagne and cakes for everyone!
Cakes with raspberries on top! Yay!
We took some pictures with everyone before we set of to take even more pictures.
Kine captured all these memories so perfectly for us!
Who gets to go on a beautiful merry go round in their wedding dress and suit? Yup – we did!
We had so much fun!!
But the fun didn’t end there. We set of for our lunch, just the two of us, at The Four Seasons. Afternoon tea! I had no idea how fancy this place was, but oh my was it!? It was probably the most fancy place I have ever been. People fluffing pillows as soon as you stood up, a stool for your bag being placed next to you, and a man playing live piano music. As we walked in the piano player started playing the wedding march! Such a fun memory!!
And the afternoon tea was just perfect!
We were didn’t even manage to eat all the food, and that was a good thing as we were off to meet the rest of our small wedding party for dinner at another hotel just a little later.
Our perfect wedding day! I’m so happy about how it turned out, and I’m even more happy that this wonderful person in the picture above wants to spend his life with me!!!
Six months later… I’m still the luckiest girl ever!
Today it has been 3 years since I was lucky enough to move in with my lovely man! I still love every day of living in this flat, with the best person in the world! So many great memories, and so many more to come!
Love love love!
This picture was taken on our wedding day in Paris by Kine Jensen.
Our wedding dinner, with a six course meal, was held at Hotel Astor Saint Honore in Paris. We had a really nice room all to ourselves, and even if they did forget the champagne it was really nice.
The pictures are not as fancy as in the previous posts about our wedding, but even a photographer cant always have fancy pictures. These pictures are lovely memories, so I love them anyway!
A fantastic (almost) end to our lovely wedding day.
Afternoon Tea at the Four Seasons in Paris on your wedding day… Does it get any better?
As we walked in the piano player started playing the wedding march!
It was absolutely perfect, and super fancy. Kine came with us and took a few pictures before we, the newlyweds, were left to entertain ourselves. We had such a nice time! I loved every minute of it! Yummi food, such a nice atmosphere and a piano player playing beautifully the whole time. Oh and I still regret not eating the second macaroon!
(Notice the wedding ring? Yay!)
Such a nice lunch. I dont think I have ever been at such a fancy place before – I mean, when I went to the bathroom a lady came over and fluffed my pillows for me! I’m so going back there the next time we go to Paris. Can’t wait! And then I will not leave the second macaroon behind!
The first 9 pictures are by Kine Jensen, and the rest we took ourselves.
After our wedding ceremony we took some pictures with our families and friends. To me these pictures are extra special because of the people smiling towards us in them. Love!
What a magical day… All dressed up on the 3rd of May it was time for our wedding. The ceremony was held at the luxembourg garden in Paris. We had found a nice spot under lots of beautiful green trees, and when I arrived with my two maids of honor, Ida and Jeanette, everyone were standing there waiting for us. Time to say «I do!»
In the ceremony Pierre-Henri Therond said:
«A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, but always with the same person! To marry is to come together as individuals and to share ways of our past and to move forward hand in hand along the uncharted road of our future. Remember and keep alive those qualities that drew you to one another in the first place. Make the most of the moments you share together, be able to laugh at yourselves, forgive, believe and trust one another. Love makes burdens lighter because you divide them, it makes joys more meaningful because you share them.»
Lærdom av Alf A. Sæter
«Å elska
er å vera stille
nesten heile tida
og ha varme hender.
Å elska
er ikkje å vakta,
men sjå en annan veg
til rett tid.
Snakk ikkje om ekstasen
når du meiner
kjærleiken.
Dei bur på kvar sin strad
og møtest
sjeldan.
Snakk heller
om å gå til fots
gjennom ti tusen kvardagar
og aldri halde opp
med å vera den rette.
Å elska er å tenna lys
og tørka tårer,
natt og dag.»
«My romance doesn’t need a castle rising in Spain. Nor a dance to a constantly surprising refrain. Wide awake I can make my most fantastic dreams come true. My romance doesn’t need a thing but you.»
By Lorenz Hart.
«I give you this ring as a token of my love. All that I am I give to you and all that I have I share with you.»
«Ever mine, ever thine, ever ours.» Written by Ludwig van Beethoven in his letter called Immortal Beloved.
After the ceremony it was time for champagne and cakes!
